I have a love hate relationship when it comes to snacking. I love a good snack but sometimes I struggle with eating the right snacks. On top of loving snacks, I also suffer from lack of portion control. Two things you must get under control if you want to lose weight. Since starting this journey, I’ve had to find new and creative ways to continue eating the foods that I love. While it has always been my goal to eat foods that are not only healthy but good for me, it has not always been easy. I had to have a serious come to Jesus moment with myself and that’s when I finally got it together.
I had to learn how to eat all over again…
After months of research, I finally found a combination of snacks that works for me. But don’t get it twisted, I still indulge ever now and again. I’m not perfect and I believe you fall off the wagon faster when you deprive yourself completely of the foods you like to eat, moderation is definitely the key! Another issue that I faced was finding snacks for when I’m on the go. I travel a lot and I’m always out and about attending events so I need snacks that I can eat that aren’t filled with unnecessary and unhealthy ingredients. If you’ve read the blog for a while then you already know that I’m obsessed with CVS! They have so many healthy options, that help me keep my snacking under control. It makes me happy to know that no matter what CVS I go to, I can always find healthy options.
Here’s a list of my favorite snacks from CVS to help keep me on track this spring:
Popcorn: I love popcorn but I had to learn how to give up all of the butter and salt. Now I prefer CVS gold emblem abound Heavenly Light White Cheddar Popcorn. I love this popcorn because it has a ton of flavor minus all of the calories. It’s cholesterol free, free of artificial preservative and flavors, a good source of fiber and has whole grains. I mean what more can you want in a popcorn.
Fruits & Veggie Snack Bars: Not only do I love these bars for me, I love them for the boychild. I’ve cut down on our sugar intake drastically so we decided to replace our fruit snacks with these bars. Each bar has 2.5 servings of 100% fruit and veggies per bar. You know it’s good when the boychild eats it, because he is such a picky eater.
Nuts: I love nuts, not only do they taste good but they are good for you. CVS has a wide range of nut products. When I’m in the mood for something salty and sweet I eat the trail mixes. These are perfect if you are looking for ways to introduce more fiber into your diet.
Granola: Granola is another one of those snacks that you can eat by itself or as a topping over other dishes. It’s totally up to you, it’s not only healthy it also tastes good. Don’t knock it until you try it.
However you snack is up to you…but why not add snacks to your diet that are healthy for you? Start slow by replacing one unhealthy snack with a healthy snack and see the difference in how your body operates. It’s never too late to change up your eating habits so you can start seeing results. Don’t forget summer is right around the corner!
