Auto Review: 2016 Kia Sorento SXL AWD

A few weeks ago, I told you guys about our staycation in Rockford, IL. This week, I’m back to give you all the details on our road trip. Although, Rockford is less than 2 hours away, we had so much fun driving up the highway in the 2016 Kia Sorento SXL AWD. Over the years, my love for Kia has constantly grown! Kia’s ability to re-create the wheel is beyond amazing and quite frankly the best move they ever made. Kia has proven to be a top competitor in every category and the same is true with the Kia Sorento SUV. When I started driving SUVs a few years ago, I had no clue that I would become addicted to the Sorento Brand. I love a good SUV, which is why the Sorento is one of my favorites.

Last year, I got a chance to travel to Lake Tahoe to put the Kia Sorento to the test. It was during this trip, I learned all about the upgraded features and what to expect from the 2016 Kia Sorento. I also got a chance to take it out on the open road to see how it compared to other SUVs. The Kia Sorento completely passed all of my tests; it was fuel efficient and handled great on the road. It was everything I had come to expect from Kia and more.   So when the boychild and I decided to head on a winter adventure, I knew the Sorento was the SUV we needed. As soon as the Sorento arrived we got on the road and headed straight to Rockford.

Here are some of my favorite features on the Kia Sorento SXL AWD

Gas Mileage 17 City, 23 Highway: When it comes to SUVs you need a car that is great on gas mileage. SUVs can be gas guzzlers but we were able to drive to Rockford, explore for the weekend and drive back home without filling up the gas tank. When it was time to fill up, I spent less than $40 for a full tank of gas; much lower than what I’ve paid to fill up other SUVs.

UVO Infotainment: Kia’s UVO Infotainment keeps you connected while you are in the car. You are connected to a ton of services and information without a subscription. With UVO’s advanced voice-recognition technology, you can use your voice to help make hands-free calls and manage your music library. With UVO eServices, infotainment is coupled with an enhanced telematics suite enabled by an exclusive free smartphone app.* It provides you with an innovative in-vehicle connectivity experience including navigation, diagnostics capabilities, and added convenience features like Rear-Camera Display.  Sign in today to discover everything you can do with UVO.

Rapid Charge USB Ports: When I’m out of town I’m constantly draining my gadgets. The Sorento XL allowed me and the boychild to charge our phones and tablets quickly. We didn’t have to wait hours for our batteries to charge; now if that isn’t efficient I don’t know what is.

Push Button Start: I hate having to fidget around with keys while I’m getting the boychild ready  to go. The push button start makes it quick and easy to get up and go.

Heated Rear Seats: The boychild hates that my car only has heated seats for the driver and the front passenger, so he was pleasantly surprised when he got a chance to try out the rear heated seats. Believe me this comes in handy in the Windy City, it gets pretty cold here so this was his favorite feature.

Heated Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel: Again because it gets cold here in Chicago, this was a welcomed feature. I don’t really wear gloves so the fact that I could hop in and hop out without waiting for the steering wheel to get warm is one of those features you didn’t know you needed until you try it.

Room: The Kia Sorento SXL is so roomy, while it was only the boychild and I we had plenty of room to bring a group of people with us. Our Sorento could easy seat up to 7 people. I love an SUV that gives you room to stretch out and breathe. The Kia Sorento is the perfect size for those with families or people like me who like big cars.

Panoramic Roof with Power Sun Shade: I can’t ride in a car if it doesn’t come with a panoramic roof, it’s my thing. I love how the Kia Sorento automatically adjusts to the sun, there is nothing worse then driving and the hot sun beaming down on you.

Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with how the Kia Sorento handled the road in the city and in the country. I can’t sing enough praises about the upgraded Kia Sorento. If you haven’t been in a Kia lately, I honestly suggest you stop by your local Kia. The changes Kia have made will leave your mouth open and will change your entire thought process about Kia and the Sorento.
