Movie Review: Need For Speed Hits Theaters Today (No Spoilers)

Need for SpeedThis past Wednesday the boychild and I attended a screening for the movie A Need For Speed. While, I knew the boychild would enjoy the movie, what I didn’t know was how much I would enjoy it. I literally was on the edge of my seat the entire movie! This movie had it all: action, comedy and drama; all the things a great movie is made of. I can’t lie, going to see this movie, I assumed it would be just another racing movie but boy was I wrong. This movie was so much more than just another movie about racing. And if that wasn’t enough the 3D feature made us feel like we were apart of the action. I can’t tell you how many times I jumped, like I was actually riding along in the race car. The acting was awesome, the storyline was awesome, the whole darn movie was just awesome.

Synopsis: The film centers around Tobey Marshall (Aaron Paul), a blue-collar mechanic who races muscle cars on the side in an unsanctioned street-racing circuit. Struggling to keep his family-owned garage afloat, he reluctantly partners with the wealthy and arrogant ex-NASCAR driver Dino Brewster (Dominic Cooper). But just as a major sale to car broker Julia Bonet (Imogen Poots) looks like it will save Tobey’s shop, a disastrous race allows Dino to frame Tobey for a crime he didn’t commit, and sending Tobey to prison while Dino expands his business out west.

Two years later, Tobey is released and set on revenge — but he knows his only chance to take down his rival Dino is to defeat him in the high-stakes race known as De Leon — the Super Bowl of underground racing. However to get there in time, Tobey will have to run a high-octane, action-packed gauntlet that includes dodging pursuing cops coast-to-coast as well as contending with a dangerous bounty Dino has put out on his car. With the help of his loyal crew and the surprisingly resourceful Julia, Tobey defies odds at every turn and proves that even in the flashy world of exotic supercars, the underdog can still finish first.

I definitely recommend going to see Need for Speed, it hits theaters today! It truly is a must see movie and it’s perfect for the entire family. And a special shout out to Ford, for having the Ford Mustang as one of the featured cars, she truly was a beauty!!

Go see Need for Speed today!

Sidenote: I have a crush on the entire cast, lawd, I think it was all the action and high speeds! Don’t judge me….
