Restaurant Review: Pinstripes: Bowling. Bocce. Bistro

2013-09-214

This past Friday was my little sister birthday, yes all of my brothers and sisters are Virgos…lol So, I took another break from moving (it seems like I’ve been packing forever), to spend some quality time with my sis. I was invited to try out Pinstripes in Oak Brook, so I thought that would be the perfect place to spend our Friday night.

Pinstripes Bowling Restaurant ReviewI knew, I wanted a drink but I wasn’t sure exactly what. I told the waiter that I wanted something sweet and he suggested the Limoncello Martini. His suggestion was right on point, it was the perfect mix of sweet and sour and the prices were reasonable.

We wanted to sample different dishes on the menu so we ordered several small plates (appetizers)…

First up was the spinach and artichoke dip served with grapes and crostinis. I love a good spinach dip and this one was pretty exceptional, the grapes was a great added bonus.

Ya’ll know I love seafood so I had to try the crab cakes! The crab cake was cooked to perfection and was a nice portion size. Definitely one of my favorites!

I love fried mozzarella so we tried the fried mozzarella balls! They were laying on a bed of seasoned onion rings and topped with a layer of parmesan. This dish was absolutely scrumptious.

We kept saying if the small plates were this good, we couldn’t wait to dive into the entrees!

I love steak so when I saw that Pinstripes had a filet mignon trio on the menu, you guys know I was game. The trio included: peppercorn, gorgonzola and parmesan toppings; on the side was garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. My food was nothing short of amazing! I’ve had a ton of good steaks in my lifetime but never one this good that wasn’t made in a steakhouse. If you are a steak lover then I definitely suggest you try this steak.

We also sampled the spicy crispy chicken that included a side of fries and homemade cole slaw. Now this is how you do a chicken sandwich! This option included mozzarella and Calabrese sauce, it was definitely a great mix.

My sister decided to go with the chicken parmesan that included housemade pasta, another amazing dish. At this point we were starting to wonder if Pinstripes could do any wrong. As if that wasn’t enough, they surprised my sister with a flight of desserts for her birthday.

The flight included caramelized cheesecake, apple pear bread pudding and Frangelico Chocolate Cake. All were amazing but our favorite was the apple pear bread pudding. My sister doesn’t even eat pears but she was a believer after eating this.

All in all the food at Pinstripes was amazing! Yes, they have a bowling alley inside of the restaurant but the food isn’t your average “bowling alley” food. This bistro is serving up a wide range of good dishes at great prices. I definitely recommend checking out Pinstripes for your next night out with the girls or date night with your significant other.
