Restaurant Review: Batter & Berries

Batter and Berries RestaurantYou guys know I love trying new restaurants. Recently, I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about Batter & Berries so when my sorors suggested we give it a try, I was game. I had been hearing a lot about the french toast so I couldn’t wait to try them. So, I got in the car and headed up to Lincoln Park to see what all the fuss was about.

When, I pulled up to the restaurant there was a line waiting outside the door which in my mind is a sign that the food must be good. Anytime, people are willing wait in a line to eat, I know the food should be nothing short of amazing.

Batter and Berries RestaurantAs soon as we sat down, I immediately went to the french toast options on the menu. Not able to decided between all of the amazing choices, I decided to get the Super Flight Of French Toast which included: a sample of our strawberry, blueberry, lemon, graham cracker & caramel french toast served with b&b maple butter. When my food originally came out they forgot I requested syrup, the manager quickly let me know that I wouldn’t need it. I was a bit skeptical but I took his advice. I tasted the blueberry french toast and nearly fell out of my chair. I swear, I think my eyes rolled to the back of my head. Never in my life have I had french toast that didn’t require syrup. My next favorite was the strawberry french toast, this too brought tears to my eyes. The other flavors were equally as good but my favorites were blueberry and strawberry.

Because I love to sample things when I go to new places, I also ordered the traditional breakfast that included: bacon, B&B hash browns and egg whites. This traditional breakfast was good as well but my favorite was the hash browns, they seriously melt in your mouth!!

Batter and Berries RestaurantOverall, the food was amazing! Batter and Berries is definitely my new go to breakfast place in Chicago. I can’t wait to experiment with other items on the menu, although it’s going to be hard to pull me away from the french toast. The food is fresh and moderately priced. I recommend getting there early to avoid the wait but if you have to stand in line, it’s definitely worth the wait. P.S. they close at 3p.m.
