While staying at Hotel Angeleno (read about it here), Tammie and I was invited to try out the new menu by Executive Chef Laura Scollan. Located on the 17th floor, the ambiance at the West Restaurant is simply amazing, yet calming. As we sat by the window watching the traffic go by, we waited to see what the night would bring. We were greeted by the manager and told we would be indulging from the Chef’s Tasting Menu. The Chef’s Tasting Menu included a blind tasting of 5 courses, at first I was nervous because I don’t like the idea of not being able to choose my food but I decided to go with the flow.
After sipping on a glass of Moscato, I sat back, relaxed and waited for my food. The first dish served was the crispy egg. I’m not a fan of runny eggs, so I didn’t try the egg but the salad it laid on was amazing. It was composed of bacon jam, arugula, parmesan and English muffin croutons, it was so good.
Next up we were served the braised pork dish. This dish was quite tasty, the pork was cooked to perfection and came out so tender. The pork laid on a crispy potato with and apple mustrada. It was a quite clever take on braised pork.
Next was the Scottish Salmon, which was my favorite dish! I nearly swallowed it as soon as the waiter sat it down. The white truffle and sweat pea risotto was so delicious, it was the perfect accompaniment to the salad.
Next on the menu was Whiskey Peach BBQ Chicken with fingerling potato salad. Again the chicken was so tender and the potato salad was excellent. If sweet and tangy is your thing, this chicken is for you.
Overall, I had a great time at West Restaurant & Lounge; it was the perfect ending to a long day. Whether you out for date night in LA or to catch a drink with the girls the West Restaurant is the perfect place for you. To learn more about the West Restaurant & Lounge go here.
