I’ve never been one to shy away from asking for help, not shame one bit! When I decided to start Swa-Rai.com, I realized I knew nothing about the blogging world, nothing at all. I felt like I had the ability to write and express myself, yet I didn’t know how to put it into fruition. At the time, I was recently laid-off so Swa-Rai was really just a hobby for me. I reached out to Danyelle of The Cubicle Chick and a few other bloggers hoping someone would take a few moments to help me learn the basics. I’m a fast learner and I believe in research but I also know when to ask for help. I was a faithful reader of Danyelle’s blog but had never met her in real life. Yet, I still decided to reached out to her. I loved how Danyelle had turn her site into a business and I wondered if I too could do the same. My mindset was the worse she could do would be to say no and I would just keep it moving.
Needless to say, she said yes! I’ve always believed if you want to be the best you have to learn from the best. In life there is a time to be the teacher and there is a time to be the student, you can’t be afraid to be the student. Danyelle helped to mentor me and part of the reason Swa-Rai is what it is today. Her patience and kindness was truly a blessing to me. Every once in a while she sends messages congratulating me on the growth of Swa-Rai, as she remembers when it was just a simple blog on blogger. Thanks Danyelle for your generosity, it never went unnoticed!
Lesson to be learned: Never be afraid to ask for help, for every few doors that are closed one will be opened.
Go check my girl out over at The Cubicle Chick, as she dishes on everything from family to current issues.
Until the next blogger spotlight….
