This week I got a chance to see Tyler Perry’s “For Colored Girls” movie.
The movie was a screenplay adaption of the 1974 Tony Award winning play “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf”. The movie was star packed and told the story of 9 women lives that were separate yet connected. ”For Colored Girls” included stars Janet Jackson, Loretta Devine, Thandie Newton, Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, and Kerry Washington and dealt with issues such as promiscuity, domestic violence, rape, infertility and more. While the movie was somewhat predictable at times, I thoroughly enjoyed it, Tyler Perry did a great job of bringing those poems to life. The movie was so enjoyable that I hope they bring back the stage play as it was done with “Dreamgirls”. The movie was so powerful and showed the strength of a woman and all the things we have to endure, I definitely recommend every woman see this movie regardless of race or age.
To celebrate the release of this movie I will give away 1 copy of the “For Color Girls” soundtrack to 1 reader.
