This past Saturday the girls and I celebrated Sneaker Diva’s Birthday at Mercadito Restaurant here in Chicago. I’ve never been to Mercadito’s so imagine my excitement!  Upon arrival I immediately like Mercadito’s ambiance,the restaurant was bustling and incredibly busy (you know I couldn’t wait to try the food).  As we waited for all of our party to arrive we went downstairs in the lounge area to have a drink, the lounge was so cozy and quaint.

To get the party started I decided to order me and the Sneaker Diva a drink….

I ordered a Strawberry Margarita because I thought it was pretty and looked sweet… Lets just say the drink was a one hitter quitter! lol

Finally, after everyone arrived it was time to eat…

Since it was 10 of us we had to order from a shared menu and since I think I’m the food connoisseur in this group I did most of the ordering..haha

We started dinner with a guacomole tasting… I ordered the tradicional, mango and toreado.

Next on the shared menu was salsa…  we ordered habanero and verde.  Since the chips were gone in like 2 seconds, I’m going to say the girls enjoyed it..lol

Now it was time for the main course, since we were on a shared menu we got to pick four tacos from the selection.  We ordered carne (steak), camarón (shrimp),  pollo (chicken) and pescado (tilapia) tacos..

The tacos were excellent, my favorites were the steak and  surprisingly tilapia tacos (never thought about having a tilapia taco before).

For side orders the group went with elote mexicano (Mexican corn) and frijoles charros (pinto beans with bacon).

It was truly the best Mexican corn and pinto beans I’ve ever tasted and I’ve tasted a lot

After dinner was done it was time for dessert… We were brought caramel and mango flan.

The caramel was the best!!!

All in all I enjoyed my trip to Mercadito, the food, decor, drinks and service was excellent…

I can’t wait to get back!!
